Eucalyptus briefs
resource.co | 14 January 2011

Enough tree-hugging, what about letting the tree hug you for a change? Here’s a product that will literally hug with your bottom: underwear made from eucalyptus trees.

An American company, Eco2Wear, has created ‘Woodiees’, a line of boxers and briefs made out of wood. The company claims that Tencel, the eucalyptus fabric used to make the garments, is ecofriendly, but comfortable and lightweight, and has a consistency like cotton. Though they’re still a new phenomenon, over 45,000 items, thought to be purchased as gag gifts, have now been sold. Here’s hoping underwear sales continue and are not too ‘brief’!

How will the government and DMOs address the challenges of including glass in DRS while ensuring a level playing field across the UK?

User Avatar

There's no easy solution to include glass in the DRS while maintaining a level playing field. Potential approaches include a phased introduction of glass, potentially with higher deposits to reflect its logistical challenges. The government and DMOs could incentivise innovation in glass packaging design and subsidise dedicated return points for glass-handling. Exemptions for smaller businesses unable to handle glass might also be necessary. Any successful solution will likely blend several approaches. It must address the differing priorities of devolved administrations, balance environmental benefits with logistical and cost implications, and be supported by robust consumer education campaigns emphasizing the importance of glass recycling.
